Bali villas | Ubud villas

The quiet traditional village of Sebali, home to Villa Vajra, is a one hour drive from Ngurah Rai International Airport. From Sebali new road winding through tiny villages, river valleys and panoramic views of Bali’s emblematic rice fields leads to the town of Ubud. As Bali is renowned for its arts and culture, Ubud is its artistic hub. Each of the surrounding villages specializes in one of the native arts of traditional or contemporary painting, wood or stone carving, delicately modeled silver and other jewelry, batik textiles, and furniture making. Ubud’s museums showcase the island’s rich history and the numerous art galleries, shops and market stalls sell handicrafts, paintings, wood carvings &c. It is also a once in a lifetime opportunity to see the Kecak, Fire, Monkey, and Legong dances delicately performed and elaborately costumed in their original temple settings.

This Bali villa is named Vajra. The Vajra is a Tibetan Buddhist ceremonial object; it is a symbol for the wisdom that cuts through ignorance, with the ultimate goal of compassion and equanimity. This Bali villa is designed to create an aura of peace and tranquility.

Vajra is located 300 metres above sea level in the foothills of the central mountain range; this gives it a fresher, more pleasant climate than the southern coastal regions. The location is also very convenient for tours all over the island and is only a forty-minute drive from the coast

Vajra Bali Villa is comprised of several thatched pavillions joined by stepping stones across a magical lotus pond; a pergola covered by hanging thunbergia flowers; floating stairs that stand beside a cascading waterfall veiling a traditional seated Buddha. A comfortable lounge area rests beside the cooling swimming pool and warming jacuzzi. Stone stairs lead to a ‘moon’ garden of white flowers and an intimate deck for massage. On the next level is a traditional open-sided pavillion known as a ‘bale’ for rest, meditation, yoga practice or simply to absorb the exquisite natural beauty. Wide open to the elements is the cathedral sized living/dining area with it’s marble floor, aviary and orchid garden. Protective blinds are lowered when the weather requires. Each bedroom is equipped with telephone and distinguished by its furnishings, antique and contemporary art objects and unique view. Two of the bathrooms have large terrazzo bathtubs and are set in their own gardens.

Music, which can be heard throughout the grounds, is controlled from the comfortable library which overlooks the living room. It is the entertainment center, offering a growing library, games, music, television, and DVD movies.

The night lighting is particularly breathtaking.

This Bali villa includes 3 full bedrooms, and a lounge which can be converted to sleep two persons (hence our description of the villa as containing “3.5 bedrooms”). Two of the bedrooms face the river valley, one faces the rice fields. To read full descriptions of each room, use the links on the left side of this page.

This Bali property  total living area of this Bali villa is 8,000 m2, and the total area of the ground is 18,867 m2.

The Master Bedroom, Guest Room, Studio and Study each feature individually controlled air-conditioning units and powerful ceiling fans to keep the rooms pleasantly cool. There are telephone lines for IDD calls and in-house calls in each room, and also safety deposit boxes. At night the villa takes on a different persona, with cleverly concealed lighting. Guests will appreciate the fresh cool air, and will be serenaded by a chorus of frog song to the accompaniment of ritual music from the village temples and the constant murmur of the river.

There is a barbeque terrace at the front of the villa beside the rice fields and parking space for up to six vehicles. Due to the steep hillside elevation, the private villa is not recommended for disabled people or young children.

Bali villas | Ubud villas

Villa Alamanda, situated 8 minutes south-east of the cultural town of Ubud, is approached through the traditional Balinese woodcarvers’ village of Tengkulak. Perched high on a ridge above the Petanu River, across the forest canopy, the graceful architecture blends contemporary elegance with ethnic charm. Designed to harmonise with the environment, this exclusive Bali villa comfortably sleeps up to eight people in four stylish and spacious air-conditioned bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom.

Elegant teak furniture is complemented by clean lines, natural colours and local artwork. A sizeable, open-air lounge and dining terrace overhangs the jungle, creating a real feeling of space. Bali villa Alamanda presents tropical living at its best.

This Bali property is built on the side of a hill; the living area and bedrooms are all on the same level with steps leading down into the garden. A large gate opens onto a paved parking area, where indigenous ‘serai’ stone walls are complemented with timeworn statues. These jovial characters greet the guests as they step into the cool interior of this Bali villa through a set of antique double doors. Inside, the hallway extends towards a T-shaped wooden terrace. Furnished with antiques, this breezy open-air living area runs the length of the house and boasts a delightful dining section that juts out over the tranquil gardens as they tumble into the steep ravine. The back garden is laid out with the overhanging frangipani and three mulberry root loungers to provide a gracious resting area.

The lower garden and pool area provide the perfect spot for relaxation. The garden is equipped with a large bale with plenty of space to stretch out and enjoy the afternoons in luxurious style. The garden area is large enough for children to play or for you to entertain friends. At night, the house, gardens, soaring forest and pool area are lit up by a festival of lights, presenting guests with a dramatic sense of serenity.

Accommodations

Each of the four bedrooms features red-hued hardwood floor, double sliding glass and louvre doors that open onto the terrace, en-suite bathroom and fitted wardrobes.

The ‘Master Bedroom’ is furnished in a contemporary style, enhanced by a bell jar ceiling lantern, Indonesian artefacts and paintings by local artists. Louvre doors lead into a dressing room, fitted with a chunky marble washbasin and teak cabinets and adjacent to the bathroom, with its marble bathtub and shower. The glassless windows in the bathroom allow the cool breezes to permeate, and provide lovely views of the main garden area and swimming pool bordering the river valley.

The ‘Red Room’ is characterised by red accessories such as the lamps and paintings; and the ‘Cinnamon Room’ by the spicy-scented cinnamon stick arrangement in the vase above the bed. Both of these bedrooms feature a private garden bathroom with a marble bathtub surrounded by walls and leafy shrubs.

A separate thatched pavilion houses the ‘Garden Suite’, a cosy bedroom that also doubles as air-conditioned lounge containing shelves of DVDs and books. The Garden Suite features an en-suite garden bathroom with a canopied bathtub.

A fully-equipped kitchen is behind the Garden Suite and is accessible from the car-parking area. There is so much attention to detail; even the water tower is decorated with fanciful carved flowers, dragonflies and birds.
